BRIEF PROGRESS REPORT
    Introduction and Brief Progress Report of
    The Suratee Sunni Vohra Muslim Education Society, Surat.
    The Suratee Sunni Vohra Muslim Education Society was established seventy years back in 1947 by the elders of Vohra community who are visionary, well wishers and think tankers. During the period of independence of India, the first priority was education which only can uplift the community.

    In the first year 1947-48, the society has distributed INR 5,030 as scholarship for education which reached to INR 1,21,30,941/- in 2016-17 in various areas.
    From 1947 to 2017, in the duration of 70 years, the society has done continues progress, initially starting with providing monetary help to the poor and needy students in the form of education scholarship, now days the society is trying it’s best for the various activities and charities under various heads.

    1. Scholarship: Primary to Higher education with Medical, Engineering and Pharmacy, Computer courses and other Short term courses like Motor Driving etc.
      In 2016 - 17 year: -
      For Primary Education 1238 Students with INR 21,47,540/-
      For Secondary Education 462 Students with INR  11,74,750/-
      For Higher Education and College 364 students with INR 54,07,185/-
    2. Scholarship to Diniyat Students: - Society has started to help the students who are studying Diniyat in ‘Darul Uloom’ from 1951.
      In 2016-17 year, society has spent INR 1,70,000/- for Diniyat (Religious) education.
    3. Bewa Fund: Society has also start activities to uplift social growth in community. To help the windows of community, society has established ‘Widows Fund’ (Bewa Fund), for this fund we got the inspiration and help from HAJI AHMED BILAKHADI (LAHER) staying at South Africa. The first widow fund was established in 1978-79 with amount of INR 24,000/- which is increased to INR 25,79,350/- in 2016-17 towards 777 widows.
    4. Medical Relief:  Society has expands its activity towards Medical aid also, Society allotted the land to Sarvajanik Medical Trust, Rampura, SURAT to build the Hospital.
      In 1980-81, society has started medical relief to poor and needy persons, at initial stage          INR 11,123/- spent for medical fund which is increased to INR 4,89,016/- to 74 patients  in 2016-17. Since last 10 years, The Medical Relief Fund was established in the name of our philanthropists’ donor from United Kingdom HAJI ISMAIL AHMED BADAT.
    5. Publication of ‘Vohra Samachar’: To create awareness in community in community and to increase the knowledge about community from January 1951, the monthly magazine ‘Vohra Samachar’ was started since last 66 years, the magazine is regularly without fail it is published.
    6. S. M. Badat Residential School, Kondh, Dist. Bharuch:  Near Ankleshwar was established in 1989 from Std. VIII to Std. XII, in 1994 primary section also started. At the same time M. E. Gangat Memorial Hostel in 2002 with increase in intake of students another hostel established for primary section with donation HAJI I. K. BALASARIA (PALAWALA) Primary Hostel.The campus of school enriched with beautiful Mosque, play ground, garden, kitchen and staff quarters etc.
    7. AL-FALAH Girls Hostel, Kholvad, Dist. Surat: - To cater the need of hostel facilities for the students studying in school and college near to SURAT, the hostel with full fledge facilities was established in 1993 at KHOLVAD, but since 2016 it was converted to Girls Hostel.
    8. Boys Hostel, Bhattai (Dist. Navsari): - In 1994-95, one more hostel facilities started for boys by society, but since last two years due to unavailability of students, the hostel is temporary close.
    9. Industrial Training Institute (ITI) SURAT: - for technical education in 2000, society has established I.T.I. (Industrial Training Institute) which was affiliated by N.C.V.T. (Government of India). Now as days two courses (1) Electrical  (2) Wireman  Are running at this I.T.I.
    10. Diploma Engineering College:
      A. Y. Dadabhai Technical Institute, Kosamba, Dist. Surat
      With the great vision of our elders, initiative by JANAB AAZAMBHAI DADABHAI and huge donation in the form of Land at Kosamba (7 Vingha) by DR. G. I. MOTALA and his family the dream become true in the form of A.Y.Dadabhai Technical Institute, Kosamba.
      A. Y. Dadabhai Technical Institute (Polytechnic) the First Muslim managed Polytechnic in Gujarat state start from August 2008, approved by A.I.C.T.E (All India Council for Technical Education) Government of India and affiliated with Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad.
      Four Diploma Engineering courses for three years and eligibility 10th (SSC) pass

      1.
      Diploma in Mechanical Engg.    120 seats
      2.
      Diploma in Electrical Engg.   60 seats
      3.
      Diploma in Civil Engg.    60 seats
      4.
      Diploma in Computer Engg.  60 seats
      So total Intake per is 300
      The Institute has successfully completed 9 years and entered in 10th year, there are seven batches pass-out from Institute, 2200 students got Diploma Engineering Certificate since 2008 out of which 435 are Muslim students.
      A. Y. Dadabhai Technical Institute is located in KOSAMBA, in 11 acres area a natural green campus, with three beautiful building, workshop, canteen water tank of 1 lac litter waters, RO plant for Drinking water, six computers lab with more than 200 computers, Electrical  machine lab, Mechanical lab, structural Engg.  etc. are the main attraction of college.
      A well established Library with more than 5000 Technical books, with book bank scheme for poor students. All the activities to be a perfect Engineers is done at our Institute such as Sports, Culture Activities, Expert Lectures, Industrial visits, Industrial training, Project model competition, Campus interview, MOU with Industries etc.
      Society has spent more than 12 Crores Rupees for construction.  
    11. Society is also distributing cash prize, Medals and Merit Certificates to the students of    community who got the higher rank in the examination of SSC and HSC under various scheme, so that the students can motivated for further study.
